England will be short of a million homes by the end of 2010 according to a report released this week, writes Michael Willoughby.rnThe Town and Country Planning Association report, Mind the Gap, was written by David Pretty, the former chief executive of Barratt, and Paul Hackett, director of the Smith Institute. It found that production was at its lowest level in 80 years and that the gap between supply and demand would be 150,000 this year alone - the equivalent of a town the size of Nottingham.
