Aluminium cladding and curtain walling specialist Glamalco has gone into administration, with the loss of 140 jobs. The failure of the ￡18m-tumover firm, based in Cardiff, will also hit more than 100 subcontractors. Housing minister Grant Shapps has scrapped the planned introduction of design standards by the Homes and Communities Agency which would have added ￡8,000 to the building cost of homes.
