The Stage is set for another agenda-setting, thought-provoking and dazzlingly diverse conference at the seventh Ecobuild next March-but this time, there will be a very different backdrop. When David Cameron became prime minister in May, he declared that he would preside over "the greenest government ever". At Ecobuild 2011, the industry will have a chance to grill ministers about exactly what that means. With a new government intent on making wide-ranging changes for both public and private organisations, there's never been a greater demand for information on policy and funding decisions. The construction industry is understandably alarmed by public spending cuts and the abolition of the Infrastructure Planning Commission, but initiatives such as the "green deal" to refurbish homes and businesses offer the hope of new income streams.
