Does the 2010 version of Part L spell the death of cavity wall construction? Part L 2010, which comes into force in October, requires an overall 25% reduction in carbon emissions compared to the 2006 version. This will have a dramatic effect on the thermal performance of walls. According to insulation manufacturer Celotex that could mean a 65% increase in the amount of mineral wool insulation needed to achieve the 25% reduction. That equates to a total of 165mm of mineral wool insulation.
