Submarine job to cost Amec and Morgan Sindall ￡50m

Morgan Sindall and Amec could be forced to bear a combined total of at least ￡50m in costs due to ongoing delays to a high-profile ￡134m nuclear submarine jetty project in Scotland, which is four years overdue and still unfinished. In a separate development, the ￡2.2bn turnover Morgan Sindall Group warned this week that underlying trading this year was to be "slightly below previous expectations" and announced a raft of changes to its board, including the departure of its chief executive Paul Smith. Smith will be replaced by executive chairman and founder of the firm John Morgan (see box).
