Barratt in bumper year as profit leaps 159% to £100m

Barratt has returned to a pre-tax profit of £100m for the year ending 30 June 2012. The housebuilder - which posted a £11.5m loss the previous year - also announced it had reviewed its strategy and decided to gear up its development efforts. Barratt will move to around 450 active sites from next year - up from an average of 387 this year -which will be equivalent to 15,000 homes a year.
