A group of six insurers have pledged to invest £25bn in the built environment over the next five years, following an agreement in Europe to change the way insurance firms are regulated, writes Joey Gardiner. The move was announced by Treasury secretary Danny Alexander at the launch of the update to the National Infrastructure Plan (NIP) on Wednesday (4 December), which included details of a £375bn pipeline of public and private infrastructure projects (see box).
