Kier tops list of government's most used construction contractors

Kier was the government's most-used construction contractor in 2012 and 2013, with the firm winning £1.4bn of work over the period, according to a new analysis of government spending figures. The contractor ranked ahead of Balfour Beatty in second place and Carillion in third in terms of public work won by contractors over the period. The ranking was produced by think tank the Institute of Government and data analysts Spend Network, based on analysis of 38 million transactions from 2012 and 2013 made publicly available by the government.
