Project team picked for £600m Battersea second phase

A clutch of consultants have been appointed to the £600m second phase of the redevelopment of London's iconic Battersea Power Station, Building can reveal. Architect Wilkinson Eyre, cost consultant Gardiner & Theobald, structural engineer Buro Happold, conservation architect Purcell and services engineer Chapman BDSP have all won places on the project, which will see the power station itself transformed into a shopping, office, and events complex as well as high-end residential flats. Client Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC) said it was also currently "engaging with the contractor market" to establish a shortlist of firms for the main contractor role. All the consultants, bar Chapman BDSP, are already working on a £100m package of restoration and repair works to the grade Ⅱ*-listed power station, alongside contractor Mace.
