Wates bags contract for £50m V&A gallery

Wates has won the prestigious job to build a new £49m gallery at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Building can reveal, writes AllisterHayman. The contractor has been picked for the museum's Exhibition Road Project (pictured), designed by Amanda Levete Architects, which involves the construction of a new underground exhibition space, a revamped open courtyard and an improved museum entrance from the newly landscaped Exhibition Road.
