Laing O'Rourke inks £480m Brighton hospital deal

Laing O'Rourke has been confirmed as lead contractor on the £480m redevelopment of the Royal Sussex County hospital in Brighton. The contractor signed a contract confirming the plans this week, having begun preparatory work on the 3Ts Redevelopment, as the scheme is known, last September. It means construction work on the main hospital building will now start in the first half of next year. The scheme had encountered issues after inflationary pressures saw the cost rise by £60m, but was given the green light in October after the Treasury approved a revised business case for the project.
