Costain has surged to the top of the contractors' table for June after securing 12 contracts worth a combined total of £4S7m. The firm's largest contract win was a £152m deal with the Welsh government to dual a section of the A46S between Gilwern and Brynmawr. Skanska bagged second spot with four contract wins valued at £361m, which also included a £60m contract from Network Rail for London Bridge station's eastern approach junction. Third place went to Kier, which secured 59 contracts worth £191m. Meanwhile, fourth place went to embattled Balfour Beatty, dropping from last month's top spot, having secured 43 contracts valued at £157m. The wins included a £17.3m contract at Dungeness power station for the National Grid.
