Balfour bags £300m Thames flood defence programme

Balfour Beatty has been appointed as civil contractor on a 10-year programme to assess and deliver flood defences along the Thames. Balfour will carry out work for CH2M Hill, on behalf of the Environment Agency, on the Thames Estuary Asset Management Programme. The programme will manage and deliver capital works along the 170km length of the Thames Estuary. The aim of the works is to protect 1.25 million people and £200bn worth of property from the risk of flooding.
