The Federation of Master Builders has welcomed the government's U-turn to drop planned tax rises on the self-employed less than a week after it was announced in chancellor Philip Hammond's first Budget. Brian Berry, chief executive of the SME builders' trade body, said the ditched policy to increase national insurance contributions for the self-employed would have had a "very unfair" impact on its members.
