Here in Wales we have to abide by regulations and install sprinklers systems in new-builds - this has been on the statute book now for a few years. Why not the same for the rest of the UK? Although it would not have helped the occupants of Grenfell, installing sprinklers on new-builds would future-proof occupants from a fire risk point of view for years to come. The regulations could be amended to include alterations too.
