Planners have hit back at proposals to reform the English planning system set out by housing secretary Robert Jenrick, describing them as "untested" and "worrying". Jenrick last week sketched out a series of reforms, many of which are designed to increase housebuilding by reducing the influence of elected politicians over planning decisions, including an expansion of permitted development rights and the introduction of continental-style "zonal" planning.
