I am writing in response to Richard Steer's comment piece Housing statistics - it's no good blaming the builder (21 November, building. co.uk), which examined figures that show not enough houses are being built to meet the government target of 300,000 new homes a year. It's worth pointing out that not all housing providers will "simply sit on their cash" due to an uncertain market. At L&Q, we are playing our part in tackling the national housing and affordability crisis by delivering 100,000 homes in 10 years. To do this, we are expanding from our traditional heartlands in London and the South-east into other regions of the country, including the Midlands.
