The First International Symposium on Sustainable Healthy Buildings

摘要

There have been increasing interests in health and well-being related to built-environments over the past decade. Progress has been made in understanding healthy buildings, as evidenced by a number studies on the subject. An Engineering Research Center, the Center for Sustainable Healthy Building (CSHeB) at Kyung Hee University, has hosted the first international symposium on "Sustainable Healthy Building" in Seoul, Korea (2009). The center is a leading research organization in its area emphasizing the needs for interdisciplinary research of architectural, medical, psychological, physiological, social and environmental aspects of healthy building design and maintenance. The six papers presented in this partial special issue of Building and Environment are developed from papers initially presented at the Symposium. The emphasis of the papers is on high quality research contributions that debate and discuss how healthy environment can be achieved within architecture, medical aspects and indoor quality.
