Green light for E1 student building

Tower Hamlets Council has approved an11,000sq m mixed-use development in east London by Buckley Gray Yeoman. The scheme, near Aldgate East tube station at 60 Commercial Road, is for Derwent London and comprises a 19-storey 417-room student building plus a separate 2,500sq m office building. The 9,000sq m student building, clad in pre-cast concrete and terracotta panels, contains single and double studio rooms, and communal facilities including a gym, laundry, study and relaxation areas.
