Emirates Air Line connecting Greenwich Peninsula and The Royal Docks

The Emirates Air Line spans the River Thames, providing a direct link between the Royal Victoria Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station on the north bank and the Jubilee Line station at North Greenwich on the south bank. Three steel towers support the cable car, one on the south bank and two on the north shore, including an intermediate structure. The intermediate tower was the first to be fully erected and although it is the smallest, it still stands at over 65m tall and weighs more than 290t. The other two towers top out at 90m and weigh in excess of 550t each. Design of each of the towers comprises a shaft tapering towards a narrow neckline with a flared head supporting the cable car sheave assembly.
