While it may not exactly have brought clarity to the discussion about the future structure of the UK's architectural education, the recent EU Professional Qualifications Directive has at least defined the field of possibilities. The three-part qualification structure that the UK has maintained since the 1950s can now clearly be supplemented by other routes and it falls to the RIBA to determine what they might be.
