摘要

Analysing how a building performs can help architects secure more work in the future. "My mission is to get architects to do more research," says Flora Samuel, professor of architecture at Sheffield University. "Other professionals come armed with statistics to blind their clients in order to secure large chunks of a project. Taking control of how architecture is evaluated is something the profession has lost and needs to recapture." Often the problem is a matter of scale, with larger practices best able to afford the costs involved in compiling and sharing data. Gensler, for example, has a digital library where project information and imagery is uploaded and then shared between its 44 offices worldwide. It also has knowledge managers who collect data.
