Adam's Kenwood restored to glory

Kenwood House in London has reopened to the public after a £5.95 million refurbishment programme. Undertaken by English Heritage with the support of a £3.89 million Heritage Lottery Fund grant, the 20-month programme has included the restoration of Robert Adam's original decorative scheme in the entrance hall, staircase, antechamber and library. Detailed paint analysis revealed the last major redecoration (over 40 years ago) to be inaccurate and the original paint scheme has been painstakingly reinstated, most spectacularly in the library or "Great Room" — one of the most important 18th-century interiors in Britain.
