摘要

I am drawn to John Nash's work in London because I am passionate about comprehensive urbanism and how architecture, including set pieces, can evolve out of the urban masterplan. My interest dates back some 40 years to when I first did a plan for what's sometimes called the Nash Mile. At the time, I lived in the Farrell/Grimshaw flats opposite Hanover Gate which looked out across Regent's Park and I used to walk to work through the park every day, so Nash was all around me. I wanted to rediscover the clarity of Nash's masterplan and was interested in the idea of a Nash Rambla — a Great Walk through Nash's London that extended at both ends with a walkway along the South Bank and to die north, up towards Primrose Hill.
