Adjaye hired to bring style to East End fashion outlet

David Adjaye has been brought in by developer Harry Handelsman to design a major new fashion hub on east London's Olympic fringe. Investment for the scheme, being built around an existing Burberry outlet store is coming from the mayor's post-riot regeneration fund and Network Rail, which together are contributing ￡5.3 million. Handelsman, chief executive of Manhattan Loft Corporation and the developer behind the St Pan-eras Renaissance hotel, said that he was aiming for a "prestigious new fashion destination showcasing local design talent alongside international brands".
