Grafton graduates to UK building

Grafton Architects has revealed its winning designs for its first building in the UK. The Irish practice has been appointed to create a new entrance building for Kingston University. It beat O'Donnell & Tuomey, Bennetts Associates, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and Haworth Tompkins in a RIBA competition. The New Town House features colonnades, exposed decks, loggias and unifying fingers of landscape. "The stepping of the building profile respects our neighbours and provides interesting external spaces that will contribute to biodiversity and sustainability," said Sean Woulfe, director of estates delivery at Kingston.
