Green Building Survey: Developers favor tax incentives for green renovations

If cities or states want to encourage environmentally responsible commercial real estate development, one of the most powerful tools they can use is tax incentives, according to the 2010 Green Building Survey conducted by National Real Estate Investor in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council. Of the 173 respondents, 77% say they would find tax incentives the most beneficial enticement for retrofitting green buildings. Additionally, 66% of respondents say rebates and discounts on environmental products would prove very helpful, 50% say they would like grants, and 43% say that reduced permits and zoning fees would be good.
