In another example showing OTT still isn't close to rivaling the reliability of more traditional pay TV distribution platforms, HBO Now struggled during the April 24 season six premiere of Game of Thrones for a subset of subscribers who were apparently new or trying to renew an existing subscription. New users of the standalone OTT subscription service, which launched about a year ago, took to Twitter and Reddit to complain about the service requiring users to restart the app and subscribe, and not allowing users to renew when they went through those steps.
