Approach to Metadata Production and Application Technology Research

In the areas of broadcasting based on home servers and content retrieval, the importance of segment metadata, which is attached in segment units such as per shot or scene, is rising. Advances are being made at the Science & Technical Research Laboratories on technologies research to efficiently index such segment metadata with the application of image recognition and natural language processing. We are also pioneering broadcasting services that utilize metadata. This article introduces the status of the research being done on metadata production and application.
