Public Viewing and Experimental Terrestrial Transmissions of 8K during the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games

During the Rio Olympic Games this summer, NHK offered selected events from the Games in 8K Super Hi- Vision, as part of its test sat-ellite broadcasting of Super Hi-Vision, alongside a series of 8K public viewings at its local stations nationwide. At NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories (STRL), we also offered the public a chance to experience 8K during the Games, with demonstrations of receiving the test satellite broadcasting in our 8K "living-room" theater and public viewing sessions using the big screen in our auditorium. Furthermore, we took the opportunity to conduct 8K experimental terrestrial transmissions in both Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro.
