We are conducting R&D on large-screen, sheet-type organic light-emitting diode (OLED)*1 displays that will allow viewers to enjoy the fine detail and strong sense of presence provided by 8K Super Hi-Vision video in their homes. The active matrix*2 OLED displays used in large screens use a hold-type display scheme that emits light for the duration of the frame. Because of this, there is a discrepancy between the motion of displayed objects and the motion of the viewer's line of sight when following the moving object, and this causes the moving object to appear blurred to the human eye (Fig. 1 (a)).
