What is a digital signature? Broadcast services via the Internet often make use of highly sensitive data (such as passwords) that were not needed for the broadcasting services of previous eras. Content distribution systems that handle such data over the Internet incorporate cryptographic technologies to protect the data from cyberattack. Among the various cryptographic methods available today, digital signatures prevent data tampering and allow the correctness of both a message and its sender/receiver to be confirmed.
