The transition from videotape to a digital file-centric workflow for news production continues to gain momentum. During the past year, many broadcasters have committed to one of the competing digital file-based ENG formats and upgraded their newsroom workflow with the transition to video file servers. The accelerated pace for adopting a file-based workflow to replace, or in some cases augment, videotape-centered news production is easy to understand.
