Doctors frightened to speak out against trust, says report

Sick patients are being put at risk by being shunted between hospitals in a Midlands hospital trust and by serious over-crowding, the NHS watchdog, the Commission for Health Improvement, has warned. In a damning report published this week, the commission also criticised the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust for generating a culture in which doctors were afraid to speak out about problems for fear of being victimised. And it urged the trust to take a closer look at its death rates, which were above the national average.
