Optimising both technical and economic factors in the maintenance, repair and rehabilitation strategy tor city and highway facilities requires a comprehensive life-cycle description of all network objects. A new system that is being used in Moscow is intended to provide this, tying these descriptions to location, characteristics of transport infrastructure, operation and repair techniques and technologies. The System for Optimal Management, which AGA Corporation has been developing over the last three years, is now being implemented in Moscow, and offers a range of capabilities. It allows formation and planning of object networks; allows objects to be catalogued and registered in a database; subdivision of the structural system; object inspection, and generation and detailed description of optimal repair strategies.
