Big launch for Scottish road link

The first phase of one of the biggest civil engineering projects in Scotland was completed last month with the launch of a 200m-long section of viaduct across several roads and railway lines. The Port Eglinton Viaduct forms part of the project to complete the missing link between the end of the existing M74 motorway and the M8 south of the Kingston Bridge near Glasgow.rnThe launch involved jacking a 200m-long section of the bridge a distance of 166m across the West Coast main line railway, a number of local rail lines, and across two roads; it will eventually carry the westbound carriageway of the new motorway.
