I've wanted to be a photographer ever since I was 14," says Jan Watten of Oakland, California. "I love the act of taking photographs. I love the way that photographs look. I'm intrigued by the way a camera can capture the smallest details. And I love black-and-white photography because of the way a silver gelatin print can evoke such a strong emotional response from people."
