Somewhere along the historiography of feminism, the desire to have children has been relegated to something ancillary. Women, of course, can have lives brimming with meaningful work and meaningful relationships without experiencing motherhood. But during the struggle for equal rights, we may actually have lost the right to be bereft at not having children.
