The world has become instant. In order for businesses to rez main competitive, they must create new and innovative appli cations to meet changing needs. One mistake people often make when building applica tions to meet business needs is not properly defining business requirements from the get-go. Poorly defined requirements compromise the quality of applications and lead to projects that deliver marginal value or fail outright. It is imperative that requirements are well defined to avoid misunderstandings about their meaning or intent. Also, it is difficult to determine the dependencies of poorly defined requirements. A search function for a mobile application may de pend on code for a related function in a browser-based application. If the require ments for the mobile application do not document this dependency, a change to the browser-based function may break the mobile application. If the requirements do not take into account these dependencies, unexpected surprises may wreak havoc on project schedules.
