Hall and Watts Develop New Rugged URT Printer

The URT Printer was first developed for a contract between MAS Zengrange and General Dynamics UK to supply a complete Fire Control and Comms Package into Libya. Due to the difficulties in finding a reliable source for a military printer complete with all of the Mil-Std and Def-Stan certifications required, MAS Zengrange developed their own. Most rugged printers do claim compliance with these standards, but on deeper investigation, their test coverage is limited to a small subset of the standards. In terms of other applications, they are best suited for situations that require ultimate reliability of service, and "Full" military certification compliance, such as operation in EMC sensitive environments. Secure facilities may be a future market opportunity, but this may require additional certification testing. To date the URT Printer has been installed in tracked vehicles, aircraft and submarines.
