Long, slow rolls are more difficult than short, fast rolls since the inertia of the higher speeds helps to keep the model axial. Practice short, fast rolls until they are comfortable, then slow down the roll and fly with more cyclic and throttle corrections. If you use your gyro in heading-hold mode, make sure that you enter the roil with the tail directly behind the nose. Starting the roll with the tail slightly off will pull the nose of the model to one side and turn your axial roll into a barrel roll. This maneuver is easier to learn by using your gyro's rate model; this allows the tail to weathervane behind the model and keeps the roll straighten Always roll away from yourself, so a bad execution doesn't wind up over your head.
