Two Calls to Action: What will AWIS' response be?

The National Academy of Sciences released their report, "Beyond Bias and Barriers: Fulfilling the Potential of Women in Academic Science and Engineering," in late September. This report makes recommendations for achieving equity for women in science and engineering in the academic workplace; similar recommendations have appeared in other reports from national organizations and federal government agencies over the years. In fact, many of the recommendations in this report were made previously by the participants at the AWIS Conference in June 2005, as reported in the conference report, "Women in Science -Assessing Progress, Promoting Action" (http://www.awis.org/ conference/reports.html).
