How I Became a Review Intern at the Center for Scientific Review at the NIH

I recently completed a five-year Postdoctoral Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I will always look back upon my time as a researcher at a premier biomedical institute as an exciting chapter in my life. The opportunities to conduct cutting-edge science and forge productive collaborations were plentiful. Nevertheless, I felt confined by the narrowness of focus one had to maintain to be successful. As the years ticked by, I realized that I needed a career that had broader impact on the scientific enterprise. Moreover, while the thrill of scientific discovery was incomparable, somewhere along the way I had lost patience with its glacial pace.
