Finance and science: it seems like an improbable mare, but to Kathleen Sayce it makes since. Kathleen works for ShoreBank Pacific, a commercial bank committed to improving customers' environmental performance, and perhaps the only financial institution employing a full-time bank scientist. Her clients include investors, depositors, and others in the local community who may find value in the bank's green market niche. Some of the businesses are already practicing sustainable business operations and want to partner with a bank that understands what they do. Others are willing to work on new environmentally-friendly ideas, but want help getting there. "I find a lot of folks are very entrepreneurial," explains Kathleen. "Some of the things that they've decided to do after we've talked have been pretty amazing."
