摘要

When you go to church do you want to hear a sermon that presents a scientifically testable hypothesis? As a Soccer Mom, do you consider your ability to explain the physical concepts that govern the game your most valuable contribution? Yes, these are ridiculous questions that hardly challenge how you balance your roles as a dedicated scientist and a valued member of your community. However, do you consider these two components, that are integral to who you are, to be independent variables that encroach only on the time that one leaves for you to pay attention to the other? How do you, whether as a wife, mother, professional, or ordinary citizen, satisfy your sense of civic duty?
