Empowering Women Through Science to Transform Nations

I would like to thank the Royal Academy of Science International Trust and the United Nations, as well as Her Royal Highness Dr. Nisreen El-Hashemite and Mr. Nikhil Seth for inviting me to participate in this inaugural World Women's Health and Development Forum. I am very honored to represent the Association for Women in Science. AWIS was founded in 1971 with the mission to promote gender equality and to empower women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. I am also honored to represent Genentech, a leading biotechnology company that discovers and develops medicines for patients with serious or life-threatening medical conditions. Genentech is a pioneer and leader in key areas of women's health, including the treatment of HER2+ breast cancer. Both AWIS and Genentech focus deeply on science, innovation, and talent.
