Entrepreneurship is considered an important driver of economic development and social solutions in economies around the world. If women are not actively engaged as entrepreneurs and business leaders, the job creation capacity of half the world's population is lost. While women-owned entities in the formal sector represent approximately 37% of enterprises worldwide according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, women's leadership in high impact science, engineering, technology, and mathematics (STEM) innovation lags acutely.
