Back in 1981, members of the Central Ohio Chapter (AWISCO) created a unique arena for meeting talented junior high and high school girls — Women in Science Day. From the beginning, this program appealed to students, teachers, and parents in the Central Ohio area. Female faculty and staff from The Ohio State University (OSU) jump-started the girls' exposure to top-notch science — opening their laboratories and leading tours, demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and experiments. More than 20 years later, Women in Science Day is still a hit, with interest from potential participants often exceeding available program spaces.
