The maiden flight of the first Bombardier CSeries airliner took place on September 16 at Montreal/Mirabel International Airport in front of 3,000 invited guests and employees. Bombardier's Chief Test Pilot Captain Charles Ellis was in command of flight test vehicle one (FTV1) registration C-FBCS, a CS100 variant which flew for two-and-a-half hours. Captain Ellis said afterwards: 'The performance of the CSeries aircraft was very impressive! We couldn't have wished for a better maiden flight." He added that "the aircraft handled exactly as expected." Also aboard were First Officer Capt Andris Litavniks and Flight Test Enaineer Andreas Hartono.
