Full-scale testing of the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) prototype has started ahead of its first flight, scheduled for the second quarter of this year. The company undertook the first run of the new aircraft's Pratt & Whitney PW1217G engines on January 13, verifying the operation of the jet's various systems including hydraulic, fuel, air conditioning, electrical as well as the engines themselves. Three weeks earlier on December 25 the company performed the wing up-bending test using its static test airframe, during which maximum loads the aircraft is expected to experience during flying were applied to the wing.
